ago, the Guild has recognized the efforts and
accomplishments of our writers in every genre of
writing. Categories have included fiction, non-
fiction, journalism, feature writing, editorial
writing, screen writing, play writing, poetry, inspirational writing,
biographies, memoirs, music lyrics—in all formats from books to
articles, blogs, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, Sunday
School materials, devotionals, video, and now of course online
publications and websites. Our writers have been published in
both Christian and secular houses and publications.
Our goal is encouragement and recognition of excellence, and the
awards were conceived with the attitude that a great piece of
writing that appears in a children’s Sunday School lesson and
impacts even one child, is just as important as a best-selling book.
We present the awards on Friday night Roundtable of the fall
conference. That way, you will not only be recognized by the
guild, but by the panel of editors, agents and faculty members as
well. Please share your writing accomplishments and victories
with us! Submit your published materials from 2011 and give us
the joy of reading your work and celebrating all that God has done
through the writers of San Diego.
In addition, members can now submit unpublished completed
book manuscripts. Also eligible in this category are self-
published (non-royalty or subsidized) books. Authors of self-
published books (published in 2011) can choose to enter the
unpublished manuscript category or the regular, published book
category. To enter the unpublished category, send the first 25 and
the last 10 pages of your manuscript electronically to
info@sandiegocwg.org with subject line: 2011 Award
Submission. The first place winner of this new category will be
guaranteed an appointment at the September conference with an
editor or agent of their choice.
